Post Doctoral Positions
-
High-Frequency Techniques:
PO, PTD, GTD, UTD, equivalent edge currents (EEC), creeping waves, shooting and bouncing rays (SBR), and ray tracing. Scattering from conductors, dielectrics, and impedance surfaces. Scattering from curved surfaces.
The applicant must have research experience in computational electromagnetics and numerical techniques in general. Programming in Fortran and/or C and familiarity with UNIX will be helpful.
-
Fast Integral-Equation Solvers:
MOM, FMM, multi-level FMM, FFT, CG-FFT.
EFIE, MFIE, CFIE.
Interative solvers, Krylov subspace methods (CG, BiCG, CGS, GMRES, QMR, etc.), preconditioners, initial-guess selection.
Integral-equation formulations for conducting and dielectric scatters, lossy materials, and surfaces with impedance boundary conditions. Surface and volume integral equations.
The applicant must have research experience in computational electromagnetics and numerical techniques in general. Programming in Fortran and/or C and familiarity with UNIX will be helpful.
-
Signal-Processing Techniques for Computational Electromagnetics:
Extrapolation, interpolation, and decimation (anterpolation), convolution, deconvolution, FFT. Modeling of 1-D and 2-D signals using GPOF, Prony's method, AWE, complex frequency hopping (CFH), rational functions, MBPE, etc.
Optimization techniques, such as genetic algorithms, simulated annealing, etc.
Signal-processing experts are welcome. Familiarity with electromagnetics will be very helpful, but is not strictly required.
-
Parallel Programming:
The goal is to parallelize the electromagnetics solvers of different kinds (such as, the multi-level fast multipole algorithm), some of which pose parallelization challenges and, thus, research opportunities. This project also involves hardware issues, such as the construction of a parallel PC cluster.
Familiarity with Linux, Unix, MPI, and Fortran is required.
Computer scientists and computer engineers are welcome. Familiarity with electromagnetics will be very helpful, but is not strictly required.
Applications are continuously solicited with no specific closing date until all positions are filled. In their cover letters, applicants should indicate which of the above areas are covered with their expertise. Overlap of an applicants expertise with multiple areas will be considered as a plus. Applicants should clearly explain how and why they consider themselves suitable for certain tasks listed in the above by specifically indicating prior experience, projects completed, courses taken, etc., related to that task.
Appointments are for 1 to 3 years. Competitive salary commensurate with the applicant's qualifications will be offered. The offer letter will clearly indicate the actual salary. The compensation package also includes a comprehensive medical insurance. No citizenship requirements. Equal opportunity employer. Applications should be forwarded to Prof. Dr. Levent Gürel.
